Namaste, Hola, Bonjour, Ciao,
Hallo, Ola, Salaam!
Hello; My name is Cary.
I am an international travel and portrait photographer who bases in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
IF YOU ARE SEEKING A CREATIVE WHO BELIEVES IN BRINGING YOUR BRAND, YOUR ADVERTISEMENT, YOUR ARTICLE OR YOUR NON PROFIT TO LIFE IN AN EVOCATIVE AND LYRICAL WAY, I AM YOUR GAL!
I have been published in the New York Times, National Geographic Adventure and Traveller, Ozy, Fast Company, Yoga Journal, Southern Living Magazine, amongst other publications. I also shoot advertising and branding photography.
I am hired for the EVOCATIVE and LYRICAL feel my images convey.
I love creating a nostalgia that makes you wonder and feel. My painting background, passion for authentic living and travel, and curiosity about human nature and the landscape emanates into my imagery and all are part of my process.
Favorite personal projects:
Aside from a 3 month dream assignment in Bali with a Raksasa Mods for their advertising, along with other travel and portrait assignments... my formative photography years were as a photojournalist, thus I am inspired by humanitarian photo collaborations with International NGO's. I have lived in Nepal and India for months documenting girls rescued from the brothels of India, spent time in Ecuador documenting reconstructive surgeons repairing cleft pallets and microtia, as well as Macedonia through open heart surgeries and the ER ward with Cardiac Alliance. I hope to be working with Global Outreach Doctors in Bangladesh in January of 2018 as well! I go where I feel inspired and called, hoping to contribute in some small way back to this beautiful planet.
My interests and skills:
Over the last 20+ years I have studied ashtanga yoga from the Pattabhi Jois Shala in Mysore India, Richard Freeman in Boulder and Annie Pace in Crestone, CO and rock climbed all over the country. I was a former Outward Bound guide for mountaineering courses in the Rockies, studio manager for Santa Fe Photo Workshop Center in Santa Fe, staff Travel Photographer for Southern Living Magazine and acting photo editor for Yoga Journal Magazine and received a National Geographic Award from Bill Allen, former Editor in Chief of NGS. A large format Wetplate Collodion shooter as well; I love that the process slows down time and transmits one back into the Civil War era that my VA history teacher father hammered into my soul from a young age. Lastly, I am a health nut!
Needless to say; I have a rich and diverse resume that offers a unique skill set to those hiring me from Photographer to Photo Editor, Producer, Teacher.
Available for hire worldwide!
I look forward to working with you!
PS; the above image I made with my large format camera. It is an example of my Wetplate Collodion (Tintype).
